A man cannot remain attracted to a mothering woman. After a while, his passions will be redirected to other women. My own mother was aware of this when she explained to me why she thought my dad had affairs. She said, ''He wanted a wife, but I became a mother.'' In a similar way, a woman loses much of her attraction to a man when she feels she has to mother him and may easily be swept off her feet by the romantic expectations of being with another man who is not so dependent on her.
