Trifle means something that is paltry or of very little value. It is a word synonymous with something that is scarce and mediocre. Trifle pertains to matters or issues which have very little or almost no significance. There is no use of bothering about nay trifle or petty matter and exaggerating it uselessly. Michael Angelo had once remarked, “Trifles make perfection, and perfection is no trifle.” Exaggerating any trifle or paltry issue always results in much ado about nothing and one always ends up in making a mountain out of a molehill. In the words if John Bright, “Possibly you are not aware of the fact that the largest sum given by any contributor to the fund is but a trifle when compared with the losses suffered by nearly all the firms in the cotton trade during the disastrous years of the American war.”
