Many of these jobs are quality, middle-class jobs, the film industry is pivotal to the city's economy. In fact, the average scripted features -- television and commercial productions...have a direct production-related economic impact of $150,000 to $250,000 each day they're in production.

Just trying to get a film made which is always difficult no matter what kind of a budget you have. Not having a budget makes it even more difficult. Having nineteen days and no budget makes it extremely difficult.

I start everything from the same place, with that sense of responsibility. On a bigger movie, you have to be aware that you can only control your aspect of the film. It's nice to be on a smaller movie because you're working with your friends and you feel so close-knit. It's your movie and you can do anything you want, and nobody's going to have anything to say. With a bigger movie, it concerns so many people. It's so much more of a process. But, in terms of what I do personally, it has to be the same, or else I'm just on some big movie, being a liar, and I can't do that.

When you have a regular health discipline, your body stays in shape all the time. Ive been lucky to never stop exercising and in this film its cool to have incorporated all kind of fighting and physical styles, from a Hong Kong style in the opening, to a more 'Wesley style' which is more ju-jitsu, African, kick-ass whatever I feel like, so it was intense but fun.

A lot of people enjoyed the film 'Haywire' and a lot of people have mixed feelings on it but regardless, a lot of people have said really wonderful things about it being my first experience, that the fighting they absolutely enjoyed. So I think I've gotten a lot more fans, actually.

Freddy has a couple of great sequences in the film, but he's kind of like the puppet master in this for a while. What's great about Freddy in this is when he gets to comment and manipulate the back stories and the fears of the characters...especially with Jason. I'll just give you a hint: Freddy meets baby Jason. Ok...it's great, it's just really sick stuff.

If I'm in theatre, cinema doesn't even cross my mind. Similarly when I'm making a film, theatre doesn't cross my mind.

The devil is seductive, and so guns are glorious in the culture. I understand there's a case to be made. For instance, Spike Lee said something like this, that you can't have a scene with drugs in a film that doesn't secretly make you want to do drugs. In the same vein, it's hard to make a movie that's anti-violence because the very nature of photographing violence eroticises it. But I'm not so sold that that's true.

The other thing is this industry has decided it only has one market. Unlike any other industry in the world, unlike film or books or sports even, this industry has decided it has only one market and that's 14 year old boys.

I thought he was an interesting central figure, central character, one who is definitely not your typical central character figure in a film, who's easy to like. He's not easy to like. It forces you to involve yourself with what's going on.

In the beginning, it wasn't even a question of deciding I'm going to do independent film and not commercial films - I wasn't being offered any commercial films, and there wasn't an independent scene.

Your skin isn't paper, don't cut it. Your face isn't a mask, don't cover it. Your size isn't a book, don't judge it. Your life isn't a film, don't end it. You are beautiful.

I was always more of a film guy than an athlete guy. I had an art scholarship at Western. But I actually had a Chrysler scholarship to Interlochen up in Traverse City, Michigan. Then had an art scholarship to Western and I just walked onto the football team. But Im actually a sci-fi special effects guy.

When I co-wrote the film Thirteen, I talked about the experiences of teenage girls I personally knew. I recently turned sixteen, and the only difference in my life now is that I have fallen in love for the first time. My boyfriend is Hawaiian, he's laid back, and he couldn't care less about the Hollywood scene. The other night when we were out, I grabbed his arm and said, 'Oh my God, look! There's Jennifer Lopez.' He just turned to me and said, 'So what? You're prettier than she is.' I have the best boyfriend in the world!

I don't think violence on film breeds violence in life. Violence in life breeds violence in films.

As Good As It Gets, I turned that down...but it was for a very good reason. They had this adorable dog in it, but in one scene the guys goes down the hall and puts the dog down the rubbish chute. Of course it lands on some cushions and it's fine, but I didn't want to set that example, because you never know what nuts or kids will see it and think I can do that. The director said, 'The dog's fine, the dog's fine!'. But I said, 'I just can't do that'. Of course the film was a tremendous hit, but I didn't regret turning it down.

I was completely familiar with Transformers. I grew up watching the cartoon, playing with the action figures myself, Optimus Prime and Megatron and all these guys. That's my era. And to play with these same toys that I played with, 25 years later, with my son, and not only to play with them, but to have a chance to take my son to the movie and have him watch me in it, that's why I had to be a part of it. So, when I heard that they were making this film, and that there was the possibility of a character I could play in it, I was like, 'I have to be in this.' And I'm such a fan of The Transformers that even if I wasn't on board, I'd be saying 'They better not mess it up.'

Whatever character you play, remember they are always doing something. They are not just talking. They are alive; going through a drama in which they will go through some sort of dramatic human experience. Keywords: Alive and Experience. It is your job to make them become so. Anthing you do on stage or film has a direct relation to something you have experienced in one form or another in real life. Use your imagination to exaggerate or lessen that sensation. Then, disguise it in characterization and don't forget to make lots and lots of mistakes, and look like a complete asshole. You`ll do fine.

I've had several in my life. In High School there were two teachers who really paved the way for me and encouraged me to stick with theater. Their names were David Green and Ralph Opacic. As of late, I've been fortunate enough to have mentors in the shows I've done. d..k Latessa, from Hairspray, was and is still a great mentor to me. And while working on the film Once Upon a Mattress, Denis O'Hare was there to offer invaluable advice to me. I think the greatest thing about these mentors is that they wouldn't call themselves mentors. They are just amazing human beings who don't even know that they are inspiring people all around them. I feel lucky to have been in their presence.
