As kids we're not taught how to deal with success; we're taught how to deal with failure. If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. If at first you succeed, then what?

No, no, I never despair, because George Bush is not running the universe. He may be running the United States, he may be running the military, he may be running even the world, but he is not running the universe, he is not running the human heart.

I have a lot of work to do to be able to return the support I have received from so many people. I want to say thank-you to my fellow cast members, the crew of Two and a Half Men and everyone at CBS and Warner Bros., especially Les Moonves and Bruce Rosenblum for their concern and support. And to my fans, your good wishes have touched me very much. Like Errol Flynn, who had to put down his sword on occasion, I just want to say, thank-you.

There is an element of performance to leadership, because youre on public display, and I suppose I must be attracted to that. Although, probably more than the leadership, Im more attracted to characters who are quite extreme, and could be considered borderline monsters. Its something you can get your teeth into, and I find the psychology fascinating. Its interesting that in searching for monsters to play, you often end up playing leaders.

Well you have to do a tremendous amount of research and if you're playing someone who's a real life person, especially someone who's alive or recently alive. The audience is going to be very familiar with them, so you do have to meet the audience's demand for familiarity with the character. Because I've been playing a lot of real-life characters, that's something I've got more and more used to. It seems to have worked out okay!

I'm tired of lying...I'm tired of pretending the show doesn't suck...I'm tired of pretending Ashton doesn't suck. It's nothing personal...I just feel bad for him...he's saddled with such bad writing.

ZANY, n. A popular character in old Italian plays, who imitated with ludicrous incompetence the _buffone_, or clown, and was therefore the ape of an ape; for the clown himself imitated the serious characters of the play. The zany was progenitor to the specialist in humor, as we to-day have the unhappiness to know him. In the zany we see an example of creation; in the humorist, of transmission. Another excellent specimen of the modern zany is the curate, who apes the rector, who apes the bishop, who apes the archbishop, who apes the devil.

HOMILETICS, n. The science of adapting sermons to the spiritual needs, capacities and conditions of the congregation. So skilled the parson was in homiletics That all his normal purges and emetics To medicine the spirit were compounded With a most just discrimination founded Upon a rigorous examination Of tongue and pulse and heart and respiration. Then, having diagnosed each one's condition, His scriptural specifics this physician Administered --his pills so efficacious And pukes of disposition so vivacious That souls afflicted with ten kinds of Adam Were convalescent ere they knew they had 'em. But Slander's tongue --itself all coated --uttered Her bilious mind and scandalously muttered That in the case of patients having money The pills were sugar and the pukes were honey. --_Biography of Bishop Potter.
