I can't deal with actors! I can't deal with myself. We're neurotic and miserable...I love doing what I'm doing, but while I'm doing it, I'm miserable.

I've always been taught 'Don't go on the internet!' because if someone says something mean about you...as an actor, we're so neurotic. Our egos are so fragile that someone can say twenty nice things about you, but the one person that says something bad, that's the one you remember. So I hadn't really started even looking at the internet web sites until my agent called and told me, 'You know, you should really check this out. It's so cool. Go look at it.' And wow!

If there are quarrels between the parents or if their marriage is unhappy, the ground will be prepared in their children for the severest predisposition to a disturbance of s..ual development or to neurotic illness

Quarrels quotes
I'm completely neurotic, totally anxious and high-strung all the time. I sleep for about four hours a night, or day, really. I go to bed at 9 a.m., sleep for four hours, then get up and start the day again. To be honest, I don't know what to do when I'm not working. I lose my mind if I'm not constantly doing something.

Groundedness is the quality I always want to be there, even if Im playing a neurotic character, or a woman with a rambunctious s.. life, like Nikki in Spin City. What does that mean, anyway? It means Nikkis a solid, savvy woman whos searching for something to fulfill herself. I always try to find the strength in any character I play, thats just my thing. I figure as long as I do that Im happy, and if they dont like it, screw em.

For the rational, psychologically healthy man, the desire for pleasure is the desire to celebrate his control over reality. For the neurotic, the desire for pleasure is the desire to escape from reality.

Pleasure quotes
I disregard the proportions, the measures, the tempo of the ordinary world. I refuse to live in the ordinary world as ordinary women. To enter ordinary relationships. I want ecstasy. I am a neurotic -- in the sense that I live in my world. I will not adjust myself to the world. I am adjusted to myself.

Women quotes
You wake up but not really. In the bedroom you grew up in. It's the only place on this entire planet that is yours. The only place on the planet that understands you. It understands the way your nerves flare everytime you think about talking to anyone, scared into shyness at the thought of opening your mouth but the way you are the best hypocrite around when you're in front of a microphone. It knows what turns that switch on and off and on again. It understands the way when you don't have a smile on your face everyone only spits: what's wrongs and you look tireds. So the way you keep it on your face just wide enough to avoid questions. It understands how neurotic you have become, the way you treat your flaws like old friends. The way you look in the mirror and think of yourself as Mr. Misery...

Growing Up quotes
And as Americans, we must ask ourselves: Are we really so different? Must we stereotype those who disagree with us? Do we truly believe that ALL red-state residents are ignorant racist fascist knuckle-dragging NASCAR-obsessed cousin-marrying road-kill-eating tobacco-juice-dribbling gun-fondling religious fanatic rednecks; or that ALL blue-state residents are godless unpatriotic pierced-nose Volvo-driving France-loving left-wing Communist latte-sucking tofu-chomping holistic-wacko neurotic vegan weenie perverts?

Politics quotes
The most thoroughly and relentlessly Damned, banned, excluded, condemned, forbidden, ostracized, ignore, suppressed, repressed, robbed, brutalized and defamed of all Damned Things is the individual human being. The social engineers, statistician, psychologist, sociologists, market researchers, landlords, bureaucrats, captains of industry, bankers, governors, commissars, kings and presidents are perpetually forcing this Damned Thing into carefully prepared blueprints and perpetually irritated that the Damned Thing will not fit into the slot assigned it. The theologians call it a sinner and try to reform it. The governor calls it a criminal and tries to punish it. the psychologist calls it a neurotic and tries to cure it. Still, the Damned Thing will not fit into their slots.

There's something in every atheist, itching to believe, and something in every believer, itching to doubt. ~Mignon McLaughlin, The Second Neurotic's Notebook, 1966 Religion enables us to ignore nothingness and get on with the jobs of life. ~John Updike, Self-Consciousness, 1989 A religion without the element of mystery would not be a religion at all. ~Edwin Lewis It is doubtless true that religion has been the world's psychiatrist throughout the centuries. ~Karl Menninger Religion is the metaphysics of the masses. ~Arthur Schopenhauer All religions are the same: religion is basically guilt, with different holidays. ~Cathy Ladman No religion is a true religion that does not make men tingle to their finger tips with a sense of infinite hazard. ~William Ernest Hocking The church is the great lost and found department. ~Robert Short I speak not of men's creeds - they rest between Man and his Maker. ~George Gordon, Lord Byron, Childe Harold's Pilgrimage God made s
