In closing I wish to say that while I was sorely beset by a number of white riders in my racing days, I have also enjoyed the friendship of countless thousands of white men whom I class as among my closest friends.

I went on this school trip, and I didn't really care about acting or about media. I wanted to be a racing driver. I went to go to the toilet and walked into this auditioning room where Stephen Fry was, and he must have taken a fancy. Him and the producer stuck me in this small TV movie, called 'Tom Brown's Schooldays,' which was a great experience.

My team has been very unreceptive about the fact that I consistently show them that I train slightly differently than they do, that I consistently show them that I am in better shape for ski racing than anyone else on the team.

The potential elite runner must realize that hard means hard, easy means easy and they must patiently seek out what combinations work for them. They have to learn to be persistent and patient with their training and racing.

Some guys they just give up living, others start dying little by little piece by piece, some guys come home from work and wash up, and go racing in the streets.

The Kentucky Derby is billed as the most exciting two minutes in sports. Held every year on the first Saturday in May at the World famous Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky, the most glamorous horse racing event of the year draws spectators from all over the world.

Everything one does in life, even love, occurs in an express train racing toward death. To smoke opium is to get out of the train while it is still moving. It is to concern oneself with something other than life or death.

Normally my mind is racing a mile a minute thinking about my next move, the future, this and that...but today I'm choosing to be still and focus on the now. This moment. Thanking God for it and thanking Him for having already gone before me to work out the next scene in my life.

I think were going to have a good day today, but we should have a good day every time we come to the racetrack. Thats what we get paid for. I wasnt surprised that Casey won the pole. I think if Sterling had gone out earlier he would have had a real shot to win the pole. Our teams have had some struggles this year. Some of the pain has been self-inflicted, and some of the things we just couldnt help. Itd be great to win here today. In a way, its just another race, but its a big deal to win Daytona and a big deal to win Indy. Really, its a big deal to win anywhere. It pays the same amount of points, but the money is a little bit different.

Money quotes
If wheat were at this moment subject to a duty of twenty shillings the quarter, and if Indian corn were virtually excluded, next winter would not pass without a convulsion endangering the whole frame of society, without the humiliation of constituted authorities forced to yield after a disgraceful struggle...if their advice had been taken, we should have had famine prices for many articles, and a state of exasperated public feeling and just agitation, which it would require wiser heads than theirs to allay. So far from regretting the expulsion from office, I rejoice in it as the greatest relief from an intolerable burden. To have your own way, and to be for five years the Minister of this country in the House of Commons, is quite enough for any man's strength. He is entitled to his discharge, from length of service. But to have to incur the deepest responsibility, to bear the heaviest toil, to reconcile colleagues with conflicting opinions to a common course of action, to keep together in harmony the Sovereign, the Lords and the Commons; to have to do these things, and to be at the same time the tool of a party, that is to say, to adopt the opinions of men who have not access to your knowledge, and could not profit by it if they had, who spend their time in eating and drinking, and hunting, shooting, gambling, horse-racing, and so forth, would be an odious servitude, to which I will never submit. I determine to keep aloof from party combinations.
