Vanity is the pride or conceit that a person possesses. The causes of vanity can be money, status, external beauty or knowledge. But vanity blinds the reasoning power of humans. When vanity is present it fails to see the right or wrong and thus drags into quicksand. No one appreciates vanity and even if they are appreciated for some reason or other, they are ridiculed behind their back. Mark Twain says, “the offspring of riches: pride, vanity, ostentation, arrogance and tyranny”. People who possess vanity are invariably at some point of time left all alone, left destitute by all. This is the time they realize their vanity and this is the best cure for them. “Vanity dies hard; in some obstinate cases it outlives the man “are the words of R L Stevenson. Though such people are remembered for a long time in history, it is not fame but only notorious. Hence banish vanity and humble and modest behavior will raise you to great heights.
