For a long time, blacks and especially young black males have been getting bullied by the police, especially, and we've been treated real bad in the past. You know, we've always wanted to help and be a part of at least, for the most of I speak for myself, now always wanted to be a part of my house, which is America, you know, go to work and do my job good and feel a part of something. You know, you do it and you try to be good, and you get pulled over and you get treated like crap by the cops, you know, and somebody else see, or they hear about the cops treating you bad.

I grew up listening to everything outside hip-hop. Hip-hop came later in my life. I grew up listening to Black Uhuru, Bob Marley, Tracy Chapman, the names just keep going. From Creed to Hootie and the Blowfish to 3 Doors Down to Guns and Roses, you name it. When you look at my closet of music youre gonna find a little something of everything. You barely might find any rap. Only rap CD you might find is Fugees, 2Pac and Biggie.

I'm so disturbed when my women students behave as though they can only read women, or black students behave as though they can only read blacks, or white students behave as though they can only identify with a white writer.

What the hell is wrong with you people? Every famous ni... that gets arrested is not Nelson Mandela! Yes, the government conspires to put a lot of innocent black men in jail on fallacious charges, but R. Kelly is NOT one of those men! We all KNOW the ni... can sing, but what happened to standards?! What happened to bare minimums?! You a fan of R. Kelly? You wanna HELP R. Kelly? Then get some COUNSELLING for R. Kelly! Introduce him to some older women! Hide his camcorder! But don't pretend like the man is a hero!

I hate racial discrimination most intensely and all its manifestations. I have fought all my life; I fight now, and will do so until the end of my days. Even although I now happen to be tried by one, whose opinion I hold in high esteem, I detest most violently the set-up that surrounds me here. It makes me feel that I am a Black man in a White man's court. This should not be I should feel perfectly at ease and at home with the assurance that I am being tried by a fellow South African, who does not regard me as an inferior, entitled to a special type of justice.

Its real. Everybody wants to be a part of something thats real. And a person like me, Im down to Earth. Im from the hood to Hollywood. I mess with people from all walks of life. I reach out and touch some people in the best way that I can. And I guess Im kind of a likeable guy. Even with having so many friends from different many states, I always went to those states and lived there and ended up finding a friend or two that I liked and I wanted to see them do good too. So that was my mission, to really just try to help as many people as I can to do good. It didnt make no different of color; if you was Black, white, Chinese, Hispanic I messed with all kinds of people. And that was my mission to bring something real to the industry where I felt there was a lot of fake-ism.

I try to be fairly apolitical for the most part, but where I was willing to step boldly over that line, was with something that could not be disputed by any rational, thinking human being as the most wonderful thing about the election two years ago. Our country, coming from its history of slavery and racial inequality, one of the worst offenders for that in the history of the world, turns on a dime and elects a black man to the presidency. Regardless of what I think about politics, I'm proud of our country for being that open-minded, and showing the world, which had sort of written us all off as all being closed-minded....It just shows you the power of the American idea, which is that democracy can do this sorta thing.

It is now possible to abolish work and replace it, insofar as it serves useful purposes, with a multitude of new kinds of free activities. To abolish work requires going at it from two directions, quantitative and qualitative. On the one hand, on the quantitative side, we have to cut down massively on the amount of work being done. At present most work is useless or worse and we should simply get rid of it. On the other hand -- and I think this the crux of the matter and the revolutionary new departure -- we have to take what useful work remains and transform it into a pleasing variety of game-like and craft-like pastimes, indistinguishable from other pleasurable pastimes, except that they happen to yield useful end-products.

I have a lot of really close, important friends of mine who live in Los Angeles and a lot of good things in my life have happened to me in Los Angeles or have come from Los Angeles. That being said, it's too hot for me. The architecture is ugly. You can't walk anywhere. The food sucks. Everyone's carrying guns. It's like every time I go down there, the division between rich and poor becomes increasingly more and more marked until...Los Angeles seems to be up there with Bogota in terms of cities where the super rich are as rich as anybody on Earth but they live in gated communities and have black SUVs driving them with bodyguards and then the rest of the people live in fu..ing shanty towns. I've never seen it as bad as L.A. There's just no middle class. It's horrible.

Now it is such a bizarrely improbable coincidence that anything so mind-bog-gglingly useful could have evolved purely by chance that some thinkers have chosen to see it as the final and clinching proof of the non-existence of God. The argument goes something like this: `I refuse to prove that I exist,' says God, `for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing.' `But,' says Man, `The Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don't. QED.' `Oh dear,' says God, `I hadn't thought of that,' and promptly vanished in a puff of logic. `Oh, that was easy,' says Man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white and gets himself killed on the next zebra crossing.
