A small reminder came to me, a touch a kiss to the neck, nothing else I could give, nothing else I want more, a small reminder of it all.

Last time I checked, you don't invite everyone to your family reunion. You only invite your family.

It's weird because I think when she actually passed away, there was never peace and quiet for any of us. Her face was always splattered on the paper the whole time. And for the last 10 years, I personally feel that she has been, she's always there. It's always been a constant reminder, a constant reminder to both of us and everybody else. And, therefore, I think when you're being reminded about it, it does take a lot longer and it's a lot slower.

The deal we made was that if we would change our law to invite them to come to South Dakota - that's what they wanted, the invitation - if we would change our law to invite them to come to South Dakota, he would guarantee South Dakota 400 Citibank jobs.

The standard that a society should actually embody its own professed principles is a utopian one, in the sense that moral principles contradict the way things really are --- and always will be. How things really are --- and always will be --- is neither all-evil nor all-good but deficient, inconsistent, inferior. Principles invite us to do something about the morass of contradictions in which we function morally. Principles invite us to clean up our act; to become intolerant of moral laxity and compromise and cowardice and the turning away from what is upsetting: that secret gnawing of the heart that tells us that what we are doing is not right, and so counsels us that we'd be better off just not thinking about it.
