I think I was drawn to comedy originally because when I was really young, by the time I was eight I had seen movies like The Jerk, Animal House, and Planes, Trains & Automobiles with my dad, and I knew them by heart, I loved them and my dad loved them, and we would laugh together, and I would think, This is love. I just wanted to make people feel like that.

The trouble with tea is that originally it was quite a good drink. So a group of the most eminent British scientists put their heads together, and made complicated biological experiments to find a way of spoiling it. To the eternal glory of British science their labor bore fruit.

Don't allow perception of others hinder you from being good. Allow yourself to shine privately. Always be yourself. Everyone is originally good at heart. Hate the evil deed not the person.

One of my assistants found this old German machine. It was originally used to make underwear. Like Chanel, who started with underwear fabric - jerseys - we used the machine that made underwear to make something else.

Charm has been my greatest gift. I learned the power of charm early on in life. As a young black man in 50s America in Mississippi you have to learn something extra special to keep yourself out of trouble. Charm beats aggression any day and its something youll use all your life. Charm is the secret ingredient and its more powerful than anything I know. A lot of people could benefit from working on a bit of charm.

This album is by far the greatest thing I've ever done. Putting it all together was a long process, but well worth it and it shows in the music. Originally we were going to put it on iTunes and charge for it, but the second you start doing things for money and not for the love of creating, you're forgetting what it's all about. Making music for the Hell of making music. It's going to be distributed all over the internet for free.

The second is there are some communities that we thought originally would take mobile homes that have decided they don't want them. And we're not going to cram mobile homes down the throats of communities in Louisiana and the Gulf - and other parts of the Gulf Coast.

In Russia I felt for the first time like a full human being. No color prejudice like in Mississippi, no color prejudice like in Washington. It was the first time I felt like a human being.

It's Frank's painting on the cover. We were originally going to use a Salvador Dali painting that we got permission from Salvador Dali to use, and Frank found this one, and it really did fit the music much more.

My favorite musical...it used to be when I was growing up, Miss Saigon, but I dont know, I dont really like it anymore. You know, my favorite musical is Assassins. I really enjoyed the recent production of it at Studio 54. It was originally produced by Playwrights Horizons. Its a Stephen [Sondheim] musical, its all about a bunch of assassins through history.

When I say I love Eastland, it sounds preposterous--a man who brutalizes people. But *you* love him or you wouldn't be here. You're going to Mississippi to create social change--and you love Eastland in your desire to create conditions which will redeem his children. Loving your enemy is manifest in putting your arms not around the man but around the social situation, to take power from those who misuse it--at which point they can become human too

We need less posturing and more genuine charisma. Charisma was originally a religious term, meaning "of the spirit" or "inspired." It's about letting God's light shine through us. It's about a sparkle in people that money can't buy. It's an invisible energy with visible effects. To let go, to just love, is not to fade into the wallpaper. Quite the contrary, it's when we truly become bright. We're letting our own light shine.

The essence of teaching, the soul of the art, is being brave enough, psychologically unencumbered enough, to see exactly what is taking place in the minds of your students at any given moment and then--like a good psychotherapist--speak to and through their defenses to uncover the true promise of the lesson, its hidden meaning. This significance will almost always be different from what you originally took it to be and at odds with the lesson plan. But that is what makes teaching a creative act. One doesn't just dispense information--one brings insight into being. I am surprised by what I teach all the time.

DULLARD, n. A member of the reigning dynasty in letters and life. The Dullards came in with Adam, and being both numerous and sturdy have overrun the habitable world. The secret of their power is their insensibility to blows; tickle them with a bludgeon and they laugh with a platitude. The Dullards came originally from Boeotia, whence they were driven by stress of starvation, their dullness having blighted the crops. For some centuries they infested Philistia, and many of them are called Philistines to this day. In the turbulent times of the Crusades they withdrew thence and gradually overspread all Europe, occupying most of the high places in politics, art, literature, science and theology. Since a detachment of Dullards came over with the Pilgrims in the _Mayflower_ and made a favorable report of the country, their increase by birth, immigration, and conversion has been rapid and steady. According to the most trustworthy statistics the number of adult Dullards in the United States is
