Here's something black people have known for a couple hundred years: ni...s are crazy. Now black people don't like talking about crazy ni...s in public cause white people may be listening. But I'm afraid the secret might be out.

That only a few, under any circumstances, protest against the injustice of long-established laws and customs, does not disprove the fact of the oppressions, while the satisfaction of the many, if real only proves their apathy and deeper degradation.

It is a call for black people in this country to unite, to recognize their heritage, to build a sense of community. It is a call for black people to define their own goals, to lead their own organizations.

Sometimes, I want to ask God why He allows poverty, famine, and injustice in the world when he could be doing something about it, but I'm afraid he might ask me the same question.

I suspect that worse dishonesty, and greater injustice, are to be found among the champions, lay and cleric, of religious opinion than in any other class.

If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality.

They have what you call a black night where they have black people come in for just one night only to watch comedy, and you get all your local drug dealers, thugs, prostitutes, all of them come in, sit down, and listen to you tell jokes. They the hardest people to make laugh.

Black people are tired, especially amongst black people. Tired of us seeing us kill each other, us go through that situation of lack of love for our race and for ourselves.

Of all injustice, that is the greatest which goes under the name of law; and of all sorts of tyranny the forcing of the letter of the law against the equity, is the most insupportable

I don't mind being black. I'm black out loud. It's more than the people that they are, it's the condition that they represent.

He (Thomas Paine) saw oppression on every hand; injustice everywhere; hypocrisy at the altar; venality on the bench, tyranny on the throne; and with a splendid courage he espoused the cause of the weak against the strong

Im very connected to my community and I want black people to know that I havent abandoned them because Ive had a child with a man outside of my race and Im dating someone now outside of my race who is Spanish and French. I have never been more clear about who I am as a black woman. The people I have dated sort of hold up a mirror to me and help me realize more of who I really am.

Certainly I feel like I'm the tip of the arrow at times because certainly the national media wants to talk about the fact that I'm a black Republican and some people think of that as zany that a black person would be a conservative but to me what is zany is any person black, white, red, brown or yellow not being a conservative.

Black is not defined by the media: Tall T's, Saggy Pants, Icy Teeth or Style of Dance. Black is not defined by the media, it's defined by it's background, whether your past is in Steel Mills, or Cotton Fields; whether you bled or cried during struggles; whether you acknowledge it or not, Black is inside. Defined by your racial background, the blood that flows deep in your veins. Black is not defined by the media, so before you ask me if I'm Black, take a look at what Black was before. Before Rap, before Hip-Hop, before Blues became Rock 'n Roll, before slave masters commanded slave ships, Before Jesus came, even before the Hebrew's hardship, Black was Black. And they didn't need the media to tell them that.

You know what? That's a high-brow comment. It comes from a certain culture or certain kind of Black person. But, what is clear and obvious to me is that there's a disconnect between those type of people and African-American Black folks, because I can take you to my neighborhood right now and you will see 20 of those women. They're not stereotypes. They exist. They're real. And people think that they don't exist.

I am shocked. It's upsetting to be described as chocolate, not just for me, but for all black women and black people. I do not find any humour in this. It is insulting and hurtful.
