Sanity is the condition of being sane or sensible; it is also used to refer to soundness of health of body or mind, especially the mind which is called saneness.
In the words of Jean Dubuffet, “For me, insanity is super sanity. The normal is psychotic. Normal means lack of imagination, lack of creativity.” Sanity is the antonym of insanity. A person is called sane if they are rational. In the modern day context, not just individuals but entire societies may be lacking in sanity. In the words of Norman Miller, “I had a quick grasp of the secret to sanity; it had become the ability to hold the maximum of impossible combinations in one's mind.” Sometimes peace and sanity sound quite synonymous. Sanity of thoughts and actions distinguishes between a civilized and an uncivilized person. It is important for individuals to maintain their sanity and be rational in their respective lives.
