Jokes refer to funny or amusing narrations, conversations or statements which are cracked for the sole purpose of igniting laughter and to lighten a tense atmosphere. Jokes are meant for the sake of amusement and can be even witty at times. To crack a joke properly is not everybody’s cup of tea. Comedy and laughter are the sole purpose behind cracking a joke and people good at comedy can crack hilarious jokes which evoke a lot of laughter.
In the words of Washington Irving, “Honest good humour is the oil and wine of a merry meeting, and there is no jovial companionship equal to that where the jokes are rather small and laughter abundant.” Jokes should not be used for slandering others or for jeopardising the safety and integrity of the state.
